On behalf of the members and staff I would like to extend a warm welcome to The Sherwood Forest Golf Club website and trust that you will have an opportunity to visit the best inland Heathland Golf Course in the Midlands and rated in the top 100 courses in Great Britain.
From the original Harry Colt layout, the course was redesigned in the 1920’s by James Baird the well-known Open Champion and golf architect. Almost 100 years later apart from a few extensions Sherwood Forest has stood the test of time. Our head greenkeeper Kim Kirkham and his team have a combined service of almost 138 years in looking after the course.
Sherwood Forest is a true heathland course with challenging heather carries and fast but true greens which are amazing even in winter months. There are several practice areas and we are in the process of building a driving range and a large practice green adjacent to the clubhouse which will be completed by 2019 in readiness to the famous Brabazon trophy tournament in amateur calendar to be played in 2020. Our PGA Golf Professional Stuart Betteridge and his staff are very helpful and friendly with a very well stocked Pro shop.
The renovated clubhouse is a warm place with panoramic views of the course and the hospitality of our staff is second to none. The changing rooms provide excellent facilities. Free Wi-fi is available in the clubhouse for those golfers who want to enjoy combining business with pleasure. There is a large dining area on the first floor for societies / parties overlooking the course. The food is excellent, and our Chefs can accommodate any palate if notified in advance and have a 5-star hygiene rating.
I hope you will enjoy the Sherwood Forest Golf Club complete experience.
