The view of the clubhouse from the 18th tee is always a welcome sight - it is over 2 hours since it was left behind after the tee shot on the 5th.
On paper a short final hole but trouble still lurks and the player must not become complacent.

There are no bunkers to consider from the tee unless you are an exceptionally long hitter. However, an accurate tee shot is vital and the undulating fairway means that there are few places where a flat lie can be guaranteed for the 2nd shot. If your tee shot disappears round the corner towards "Dingley Dell " on the right it is almost certain that you will not be on the green in regulation.

The elevated putting surface dictates that you add at least one club to your selection. Four bunkers protect the green and many players have come to grief here in full view of the clubhouse.

The many borrows mean that your problems are not over until the ball is safely in the hole and you can doff your cap to your playing companions and head for the sanctuary of the Clubhouse.
